The Lana Learn team is focusing on collaboration, customized support, and empowerment for a successful high-impact tutoring kickoff.
The Lana Learn team in Washington, DC has spent the summer break coordinating a successful High-Impact Tutoring kickoff for the new school year. We will continue our OSSE-funded High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) program with our four partner schools: Thurgood Marshall Academy, Theodore Roosevelt High School, IDEA Public Charter School, and H.D. Woodson High School. Over the summer, we collaborated with two of our partner schools, Thurgood Marshall and IDEA Public Charter School, to provide students with summer enrichment courses. We are excited to get back into the swing of things with our full cohort of students. Our team is currently focusing on three strategies to make a profound impact on students. Our goal is to set the stage for a year of continued growth and achievement.
1. Bridging Gaps through Collaboration:
Navigating the urban educational landscape requires a collaborative approach that engages all stakeholders. Because of this, our HIT program relies on strong partnerships with teachers, school administration, and, most importantly, our students. By fostering open lines of communication, we ensure that every voice is heard. This is vital for a holistic and inclusive learning environment.
2. Customized Support for Diverse Learners:
We understand that urban classrooms are a melting pot of diverse learning styles, backgrounds, and needs. Lana Learn recognizes this diversity as a strength. We train our staff to be able to “pivot” easily and tailor support to accommodate various learning preferences. Our team of dedicated Academic Coaches is committed to understanding the unique challenges that urban students face. Therefore, they work hard to provide individualized guidance that nurtures student potential and cultivates growth.
An integral part of this customized support is recording and analyzing student data. This data-driven approach not only allows us to measure the tangible outcomes of our tutoring efforts but also provides us with valuable lessons that will guide us in refining our program’s approach.
3. A Comprehensive Approach to Empowerment:
Urban students deserve more than just academic support; they need mentorship that prepares them for success beyond the classroom. Our academic coaching goes beyond the core subjects. Our coaches incorporate real-world experiences, critical thinking, and leadership development to tutoring lesson plans. Through interactive sessions, we empower and inspire students to maximize their potential both within and outside of the classroom.
The Lana Learn team is laying the groundwork for a year of growth, empowerment, and achievement. Our commitment to collaboration, customization, and comprehensive education will empower and inspire the students we work with. Our dedicated team is looking forward to seeing the positive impact our HIT program will have on students’ lives.
