Lana Learn is pleased to announce that we have been named a recipient of the High-Impact Tutoring Initiative in Washington, D.C.
2023 is off to an exciting start for the Lana Learn DC team. We have officially been named one of the recipients of the High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) Initiative. This initiative, funded by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, D.C., supports local education agencies (LEAs) and tutoring providers across the District. Lana Learn will serve 315 students across 4 District of Columbia High Schools.
We are thrilled to be working with OSSE to deliver high-quality, high-impact tutoring programs designed to mitigate the effects of interrupted instruction that students experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. As this program kicks off, we will be ramping up our team by hiring five full-time teachers.
Last week, we had the pleasure of bringing on a new team member, Ms. Jasmine Coombs. Jasmine is a graduate student at George Washington University. She will be completing her Masters in International Studies with a concentration in gender and education this Spring 2023. She previously taught English in Peru as a member of the Peace Corps.
Jasmine hit the ground running last Tuesday as our SAT prep instructor at Washington Latin Public Charter School. The Lana Learn team could not be more excited to add Jasmine to the roster. Her experience, empathy and commitment to educating young people will undoubtedly enhance our current and future services.
