English Language Training – A New Semester

Lana Learn instructors in Vietnam welcome new students to another semester of English Language Training by recognizing their service.

The Lana Learn team in Vietnam is delighted to welcome a new group of students to the start of a new semester, full of opportunities and challenges. May 16 marked the first day of the second American Language Course (ALC) class. The Vietnam Ministry of National Defense (MND) sent us 51 students although we are only contracted to serve 45. The initial placement test helped us decide which students we would accept into our program. It’s motivating that the Vietnamese government is so receptive to this initiative, and we’re optimistic about expanding English language training. This “steady state” program supports MND’s goal that 30% of the Vietnam Armed Forces will converse in English by 2030.

The Beginning of Something Great

We had a wonderful time at the opening ceremony. We had the honor of hosting guest speaker Mr. Jeffrey Jackson, Deputy Chief at the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) in Hanoi. The Lana Learn team holds these types of ceremonies in high regard as we find them to benefit our students greatly. Many of the officers in these training programs are away from their families for long periods of time. This can cause them to struggle with motivation. We hope that by recognizing their attendance and celebrating their service, we can boost morale. Guest speakers are able to give words of encouragement and describe what their future endeavors could look like.

Mr. Jackson shared his insights and experiences on the importance of learning English as a global language and a tool for communication and collaboration. His encouragement to our students in pursuing their academic and professional goals with passion and perseverance stood as an important reminder.

Program Progress

The Lana Learn team is proud to see program progress reflected in the achievements of our students. We are also grateful for the support and feedback from our partners and stakeholders. This collaboration helps us improve our curriculum and services. Lana Learn provides students with a high-quality and engaging learning environment, where they can develop their language skills and cultural awareness. By participating in this English language training program, our students are supporting the interests of Vietnam.

We invite all students and instructors to make the most of this semester by actively participating in their classes. An integral part of language acquisition is interaction with both peers and instructors alike. We advise our students to explore the abundance of rich resources available to them. We also urge all of our students to challenge themselves and strive for excellence in everything they do. Remember, that learning a language is a lifelong journey that requires dedication and practice.

We look forward to working with our new group of students and supporting them throughout this semester. We wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this wonderful learning opportunity!
