Academic Enrichment Opportunities Programming Wraps Up

Lana Learn wraps up its CCLC after-school programming that has provided students with academic enrichment opportunities.

This month, the Lana Learn team wrapped up its 21st CCLC after-school programming at Cardozo High School. This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. It targets students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. Throughout this program, we provided students with a broad array of enrichment activities that complemented their regular academic programs. The last day of programming was filled with laughter and friendly competition!

Over the semester, students got raffle tickets if they attended the program. They also received extra raffle tickets if they invited a new friend or won the ice breaker game for the day. The raffle tickets were collected and kept for the last day of programming. The students decided that they wanted to draw for half of the gift cards and play games for the other half. Three students won the drawing for gift cards to places such as Amazon and Chick-Fil-A.

Then some of the students played Twister Ultimate! Laughter filled the air as arms and legs tangled, and the room was alive with cheerful banter and friendly competition. One by one, students fell or couldn’t find a spot on the board until there was one left.

Next up was a marathon game of Uno! The game quickly turned into a strategic battle of wits, as students tried to outsmart their opponents. The tension was high, but the atmosphere remained lighthearted, with exclamations of surprise at every turn. The game of Uno brought out the competitive spirit in everyone and lasted almost an hour.

It was heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces as they received their well-deserved prizes. These gift cards not only recognized their accomplishments but also served as tokens of appreciation for their active participation and dedication throughout the program. It was a small way for us to express how proud we were of each and every student.

As we bid farewell to another semester, we look forward to more enriching experiences and unforgettable moments next year!
