Our Senior DC Programs Director, Jordan, outlines how an inspiring team outing can strengthen company culture.
In September, the Washington, DC staff of Lana gathered once again for a time of bonding and reflection, starting with a delightful lunch at Immigrant Food, located along Franklin Park, followed by an inspiring visit to the Planet Word Museum. This outing was another opportunity for our team to come together outside the office to celebrate the camaraderie and mutual respect that has been so central to our collaborative work environment. Sharing lunch in a space that celebrates cultural diversity and inclusion was particularly meaningful, as it reflected many of the values we uphold at Lana. Our trip demonstrates how a team outing inspires staff to put positive, intentional energy into their efforts.
The meal provided a relaxed setting for the team to connect, exchange personal stories, and further strengthen the bonds that have grown throughout the year. It was heartening to see everyone so engaged in conversation and laughter, reminding us that fostering a sense of community among our staff is just as important as the work we do with students. These moments of connection and reflection have been vital to maintaining the positive, supportive culture we’ve strived for at Lana Learn.
Planet Word Museum Inspires
After lunch, we explored the exhibits at the Planet Word Museum, which proved to be an enriching experience for all. As educators, the museum’s focus on the power of language and storytelling resonated deeply with us. The interactive exhibits sparked meaningful conversations about the role of language in education and reinforced our commitment to helping students develop strong communication and critical thinking skills. It was also an excellent reminder of the joy and curiosity that learning can inspire.
