Successes of the Don Bosco Cristo Rey Spring 2025 SAT Program

Our Test Prep Program Manager, Matt, proudly shares the successes achieved at DBCR for their Spring 2025 SAT Program.

The Don Bosco Cristo Rey SAT Program, in collaboration with Lana Learn, achieved significant successes in preparing students for the 2025 SAT. This ambitious program served the entire junior class at Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School for two months. Lana’s program served over 100 students across 5 class groups. Serving a large population of students presents numerous challenges such as attendance, student buy-in, and alignment with varying student levels. Despite these challenges, Lana’s program saw significant growth in student SAT scores and course satisfaction. Here are some of the key accomplishments based on the Spring 2025 SAT Class Student Survey and Official PSAT & SAT Scores:

Improved Test Scores

  • Average Score Growth: Students’ composite scores increased by 63 points, with Reading & Writing scores increasing by 41 points and Math scores increasing by 22 points.
  • Highest Improvement: The highest improvement recorded was 290 points.
  • Student Performance:
    • 83% of students improved their composite score.
    • 52% of students scored above the DC average.
    • 29 students scored 1000 points or higher.
    • 20 students improved their scores by over 100 points.

Positive Student Feedback

  • Overall Experience: The majority of students rated their overall experience as very good. They appreciated the engaging and effective teaching methods, which made complex concepts easy to understand.
  • Recommendation Likelihood: Most students indicated that they would be very likely to recommend the course to a friend or colleague looking for SAT prep.
  • Course Material: Students found the course material useful and relevant to the SAT. They appreciated the step-by-step approach and multiple examples provided by the instructor.
  • Instructor Engagement: The instructor was praised for being engaging and patient, making the learning process enjoyable.
  • Suggestions for Improvement: Students suggested incorporating more hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and extending the course duration for deeper understanding.

These insights highlight the effectiveness of the SAT preparation course at Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School, demonstrating significant improvements in student performance and overall satisfaction with the course. We extend our appreciation to Andrea Leonard and Samantha Jouthe, whose support was immeasurably helpful to achieving our goals. We commend the students at DBCR who demonstrated a commitment to boosting their scores and expanding their opportunity to attend the schools of their dreams. Here’s to your bright futures!
