Lana’s SAT prep programs see impressive student results across high schools in Washington, DC this testing season.
As May comes to a close, I am thrilled to share some incredible student achievements and exciting updates from Lana’s SAT prep programs in high schools across Washington, DC. It has been a period of hard work, dedication, and significant progress for our students, and I am proud of the strides we’ve made together.
Success Stories: Sandy Spring Friends School
In early May, we executed a comprehensive refresher course along with individualized tutoring sessions for students at Sandy Spring Friends School (SSFS). We targeted prep for the May and June SAT and ACT test dates. The results have been outstanding! Our students have seen substantial improvements, with most increasing their scores by over 100 points. Notably, two of our standout students achieved remarkable scores of 1390 and 1470, respectively. These achievements underscore the value of targeted, intensive preparation and the potential within each student.
Impressive Results: Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School
Our SAT prep course at Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School also yielded impressive results. Out of 88 students:
- 88% improved their scores from the initial Bluebook practice test.
- 39% boosted their scores by 100+ points.
- 12% saw an improvement of 200+ points.
In addition
- 30% of the students scored above 1000.
- 45% surpassed the D.C. average score.
These statistics reflect the hard work of our students and the effectiveness of our tailored prep programs. It’s incredibly rewarding to see such positive outcomes, which are a testament to the dedication of both the students and our instructors.
Feedback and Future Planning
This month, we have also been conducting recap meetings with our partner schools to gather feedback and plan for the summer and the upcoming school year. These discussions are crucial as they help us refine our approach and identify areas for improvement. Listening to our partners’ insights allows us to continuously enhance our programs to better serve our students’ needs.
Upcoming Initiatives
Looking ahead, we are excited to expand our offerings. This summer, we plan to introduce college personal essay workshops and SAT and ACT-specific workshops tailored for DC Public Schools (DCPS) students. These new initiatives aim to provide comprehensive support to students as they prepare for college applications and entrance exams.
Additionally, we are organizing SAT prep bootcamps at various partner schools, including Thurgood Marshall Academy. These bootcamps will provide intensive, focused preparation designed to help students maximize their scores in a short period of time.
Reflecting and Moving Forward
As the school year draws to a close, it’s essential to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our students. At the same time, we must critically analyze our data and experiences to continue improving our programs. Our mission is to empower students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed, and we are committed to evolving and enhancing our offerings to meet this goal.
