The Lana Learn team in DC is modifying strategies and leveraging expertise to best serve students at H.D. Woodson High School.
The Lana Learn team in Washington, DC is in full swing implementing the OSSE-funded High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) program at H.D. Woodson High School. We are committed to finding solutions and adapting our approach to meet the evolving needs of our partner schools and their students. We are actively modifying strategies and leveraging expertise across the team to address challenges that may arise. Recent changes have affected the HIT program scheduling, so we are working with school staff to ensure we are able to best serve the students.
Previously, our academic coach, Tatianna, was working with 9th grade biology students. She was guiding them on constructing CER (claim, evidence, reasoning) responses and helping them build logic skills. She was assisting them with hands-on activities in the classroom and fostering an interactive learning environment.
The Lana Learn team will be collaborating with school staff on shifting the program focus to sophomores and ensuring our students have a suitable learning environment. We are working on increasing family engagement, which is a vital component to our students’ education. Additionally, we have brought on another staff member to implement summer programming for students.
We are deeply appreciative of our partnership with H.D. Woodson. We look forward to working together to make a positive impact on the academic journey of our students.
