Our CEO, Tina, reflects on our partnership built on trust with the U.S. Air Force (USAF), U.S. Embassy, and DLIELC.
At Lana, we’ve always believed that meaningful progress stems from collaborative partnerships. Our work with the U.S. Air Force, the Office of the Defense Cooperation (ODC) at the U.S. Embassy, and the Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) for the Vietnam English Language Training Project exemplifies this belief.
When we began this journey, the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense set a bold goal: 30% English proficiency within their Armed Forces by 2030. It was ambitious, but with trusted partners, this project has become more than English language acquisition test scores — it’s about being a part of transformative bilateral training programs as part of international cooperation.
DLIELC Training
Recently, a trip to San Antonio, Texas gave us the opportunity to reconnect with our partners at the U.S. Air Force and DLIELC. The intensive and personalized DLIELC training, two years into the project, allowed us to review the program’s progress, share insights, and learn from DLIELC’s deep experience. It was incredibly worthwhile to sit together, reflect on our successes, and fine-tune strategies moving forward. But it wasn’t all work at DLIELC – we also cemented relationships enjoying authentic Texas BBQ, indulging in great Mexican food, and unwinding at social events. It was a reminder that partnerships aren’t just about achieving goals—they are about people, trust, and shared experiences that make it all possible.
The impact of this collaboration is clear. In the latest cohort, 71% of our students qualified for follow-on training in the U.S., exceeding expectations. Many of these students arrived with minimal English skills, but through hard work and the collective effort of everyone involved, they’re now prepared for advanced training in areas like aviation and maintenance. But this project is more than English Language Training—it’s about people and the connections forged. Every student who passes through our program becomes a bridge between cultures, enhancing international cooperation and mutual understanding.
A Partnership Built on Trust
We could not have had a successful partner without partners. The U.S. Air Force and U.S. Embassy have provided crucial support, navigating challenges and ensuring the program stays on track. Meanwhile, DLIELC’s expertise in language instruction has been a cornerstone, allowing our students to thrive. Looking ahead, we’re more committed than ever to this partnership. It’s more than English language training — it’s also about building future relationships with leaders in partner countries. With partners like the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Embassy, and DLIELC, we’re ready to continue this journey with partners, grounded in trust, integrity, and shared purpose.
