Our Unit 871 Team Lead, Emile, details how Lana’s ELT Program is transforming its temporary pause into progress.
The rain has brought a chill over Hanoi. This has set a reflective tone, arriving just as our team transitions to remote work. The 90-day pause might have caused a delayed start to our next semester, but with hot cups of coffee in hand, we remain dedicated to our mission, using this time to focus on our 90-day Work Agenda. This Agenda provides us with a clear picture of what we are able to accomplish in various sectors of our program. It was designed not only to show designated tasks but also to give us a clear picture of our progress as we complete tasks. This allows us to plan ahead using our time strategically.
Program Readiness & Improvement
We are enhancing instructional materials and assessments to ensure high-quality training. Updates include ALC grammar summaries, vocabulary exercises, and listening assessments. Additionally, we have introduced new courses: Listening 101 and Pronunciation 101. These courses aim to strengthen foundational skills and improve overall language proficiency. As we prepare, we view even the seemingly simple tasks, such as counting and organizing ALC materials, as essential steps to restore structure and readiness to our program. These tasks ensure our team is well-prepared to tackle larger challenges when our program is back in full swing. Caleb has more details on this—click here.
Systems & Infrastructure Enhancements
Significant strides have been made in improving our systems and infrastructure. We are implementing DLIELC educational and operational procedures in Vietnam. This includes improving documentation for sustainability and servicing IT equipment to ensure seamless execution. Our efforts are focused on creating a robust and efficient system that supports long-term program success.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
During this time, we have conducted a comprehensive six-year program performance review. This review helps us identify areas of improvement and celebrate successes. We maintain ongoing reports to ODC, CO, COR, and DLIELC, ensuring transparent communication with all stakeholders. Our goal is to keep everyone informed and engaged with the program’s progress. With this, our 90-Day Agenda is shared, allowing our stakeholders and partners to review our progress over this time. Their feedback allows us to prioritize specific areas as we go to better support them.
Team Training & Development
Our team is advancing their skills through sessions on instructional strategies, AI tools, and leadership. These training sessions are designed to enhance our team’s capabilities and ensure they are well-equipped to deliver high-impact training. Continuous professional development is a priority, and we are committed to fostering a culture of learning and growth. Updates on specific courses and training on how to teach them further provide our team with the knowledge and confidence to deliver these courses with quality.
We are now in Week 3 of our 90-day work plan. Our team remains fully engaged and productive, using this time strategically to strengthen the program, refine systems, and enhance instructional quality. This ensures Unit 871 ELT is even better positioned to deliver high-impact training when classes resume.
We welcome your feedback and the support from our partners and stakeholders.
