Building Confidence Through Speaking Projects

Our Unit 871 ESL Instructor, Dung, remarks on the speaking projects she is implementing to help our students meet their ESL goals.

At Lana Learn, we believe that learning English is more than memorizing grammar and vocabulary. Real progress happens when students use English to express ideas, solve problems, and work together. Speaking Projects are designed to make this possible and to bring language learning to life.

What Are Speaking Projects?

Speaking Projects are group activities that help learners communicate in real-life situations. Depending on the lesson, projects may include role-plays, presentations, or problem-solving tasks. Some projects are also fun challenges that encourage creativity and teamwork, helping students learn through experience rather than memorization.

Each project connects to the lessons in the American Language Course (ALC) books. This allows learners to use the language they study in class in meaningful and practical ways. Students might discuss daily routines, share opinions, or suggest solutions. Every task is a chance to speak, listen, and collaborate in English.

Purpose and Benefits

The main goal is to build fluency, confidence, and teamwork. Learners practice speaking naturally while developing presentation and problem-solving skills. Working in groups allows them to support one another and learn collaboratively.

Speaking Projects also encourage active participation. For some students, speaking in front of others can feel challenging. These projects create a safe space where mistakes are seen as part of learning. Over time, learners become more comfortable, more confident, and more engaged in using English.

Through these activities, students also strengthen essential soft skills. They learn to communicate clearly, share ideas effectively, and cooperate with their peers. These abilities are valuable not only in the classroom but also in their professional and personal lives.

Looking Ahead

Speaking Projects bring great value to our learners. They create more chances to use English actively, apply classroom knowledge, and build real confidence. These projects help students move from practicing language in lessons to communicating naturally in daily life and at work.
